I saw this really cool video with a cover of Ash’s 1977 album (one of my favorite albums from the 90’s)- Girl From Mars done by the indie-GRLRCK band Magneta Lane and just picked up their album, Dancing with Daggers some of the songs have explicit lyrics, but most songs do or have implied meanings now a days. My kids actually like their version better than Ash’s and it is growing on me too. The video is a marketing video that showcases different Microsoft technologies like Windows Mobile, Zune, Windows Origami (UMPC), Windows Live Search, Windows Vista, Windows Media Center, Windows for Games, Xbox 360 and how they all work in this guy Mark’s life and the lives of his friends as he tries to make it out to a raging party at his friend Pia’s apartment.

Video: Your Digital Lifestyle

This a video Microsoft should showcase. Too bad its too long for a commercial, but they should put videos like this up on MTV or FUSE. This is the type of commercials Microsoft needs to make and show the public. Heck they should make commericals for TV or play it on their homepage it sells their products well. Microsoft has to do somthing to change their public image, they have a huge marketing budget and if I and a few other influncers that are scouring the internet and the public looking for it can barely find it, how does the average public fare?

Magneta Lane ‘Girl From Mars’ on Zune

I’ve been trying to purchase the cover or a recording of Girls From Mars by Magneta Lane, but it looks like it is for their up and coming EP that never materialized, you can kind of make it out when Mark docks his Zune in his car. It would be an awesome track to have as an exclusive on the Zune Marketplace. If any one finds it let me know.
