I’ve been using CCleaner to clear off temporary files, cookies, and unused registry settings for a few years. It is probably one of the most recommend programs I steer people towards. The latest update adds a few new features worth noting:

Faster analyzing and cleaning

Select files, folders, and registry keys to ignore (very nice)

CCleaner can be run from a USB thumb drive (portable cleaning great for using public computers and kiosks)

Rebuilt in C++ to support 64-bit compatibility and Windows Vista compatibility (for all you 64bit zealots)

Redesigned GUI

ccleaner beta

The fact that you can now carry CCleaner with you on a USB drive is very nice, much better than installing it and then removing it when you’re done.

Note: it is still in beta, for example CCleaner includes an application for uninstalling programs from your PC which loads up a lot faster than the stock Windows Add/Remove Programs menu (it seems like I can catch up on all my RSS feeds sometimes before that thing is done populating) was only able to find one program installed on my Windows Vista PC test box.

You can download it directly from here.
