Origami 2.0 Hands On

August 15th, 2008

I finally got around to installing the latest Origami 2.0 UI for UMPCs on my P1610 and I have been pretty impressed. Graphically it is much better than the previous version which looked horrible on anything with a screen larger than 7" and fixed backgrounds larger than 1024 x 568.

Installing it was pretty easy. […]

Schools Using Tablet PCs

August 14th, 2008

I was asked by someone via email if I knew of a list of schools that have implemented Tablet PCs in their school’s Computer lab or throughout the school campus, I quickly remembered seeing a great list compiled by Lora Heiny at What’s New. I know our kids only have 2 Tablet PCs in their […]

I don’t get it. All the hype about Cuil.com with $30 million dollars in venture capital funding with the expectations of it being the end all of all search engines and slated on being the next thing to replace Google. Maybe I am missing something?  It doesn’t have better search results than Google, Live.com, Yahoo.com […]

Well its about time…the Federal Communications Commission has officially and formally approved the merger between Sirius Satellite Radio Inc. and XM Satellite Radio Holdings Inc. Hopefully I can end one of my subscriptions and just keep one satellite radio in my car. Yes I am one of the few that have both because there is […]

Fujitsu No SSD?

July 10th, 2008

Wow I always thought Fujitsu had a good bead on the future, but I have to say that they are missing the mark on not introducing SSD drives in their line of laptops. In an article in ComputerWorld Joel Hagberg, Fujitsu’s vice president of business development, said his company does not plan to launch any […]

I read this over at Long Zheng’s blog this morning on how to use MediaCoder to encode properly for the Zune. You will need to download his preset from here to get all the settings optimized for Zune encoding and it is pretty fast too.

The Codec settings Long used are:
Video:
Format: Windows Media
Codec: Windows Media Video […]
